Day 58: Keep Alert! - Devotions for the Menopausal Woman

 Read: Luke 21:25-34

Keep Alert!

"And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares" (Luke 21:34).

Samantha cut her hair and dyed it pink, Jackie left her husband for a younger man, Debbie started drinking again after twenty years of sobriety, and Linda surfed the internet for "harmless" chats.

Menopausal women have been known to do strange things.  Samantha, Jackie, Debbie and Linda were active members of their church; when confronted, they blamed it on their inability to control their emotions.

God is not mocked; these women will reap just rewards for their actions.  A hormonal imbalance is never a free pass to sin.  A woman's ability to remain holy in the toughest of times is determined by her personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Her love for Christ and her desire to spend eternity with him is her motivation for remaining holy in the midst of temptation. 

Jesus said, "Take heed." No one knows the day or the hour of His return.  What a horrific surprise if Christ returns while we are reveling in the lusts of the world.  Will it really be worth it?

Today's Hot Flash:  Excuses do not fly with a Holy God.  With the Holy Spirit's help we can remain godly.  It won't be easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is.

Prayer:  Holy Lord, help me say no to the sinful pleasures Satan thrusts before me.  Put Your loving arms around me and protect me from evil.  Amen.
