In Search of A Sound Mind

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7).

Sometimes my fuzzy mind makes it impossible to concentrate and truly my dark days are at their peak when this occurs. As I wait for the blessed clearing to return, my impatience turns to guilt as I dwell on my piles of incomplete work.

When I attempt to use my brain for more than simple and uncomplicated thoughts, confusion sets in and my brain transforms into a jellified mass. Thank God this doesn't happen all the time or life would come to a complete stop.

Imagine what this does for my time with God. Sometimes I sit at my desk with my hands on my forehead muttering "Oh God, just help me through today." I realize the self-centerdness in this little prayer but feel useless to pray anything more.

In my confusion, it is great to know that through God's Spirit He has given us the "power of love and a sound mind."

God has promised that as we cling to Him, the sound mind will come, and when it matters most we will be able to stand firm in the wonderful knowledge of Jesus Christ and His blessed faithfulness to His promises.

Today's Hot Flash: Do what you are called to do; the clarity of mind will come with the action of obedience.

Prayer: My Lord and Shepherd, help me to let Your Spirit guide me when I don't feel like I can make a sound decision. Let me find rest in the comfort of Your love. Amen
